(Washington, DC) – Today, Monday, August 25 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and District leaders will celebrate the first day of school at the Adams Campus of Oyster-Adams Bilingual School by cutting the ribbon on a $71 million modernization to the campus.
Thousands of students are returning to classrooms in all eight wards today to kick off the 2025-26 school year, and pre-K students will start school on Thursday, August 28. The school year begins as Mayor Bowser and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education recently announced that proficiency rates in English language arts/literacy (ELA) and math are the highest since prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ELA proficiency rate is the highest on record.
At Oyster-Adams today, Mayor Bowser will celebrate the school’s exciting new features, which include a brand-new gym, synthetic turf field, outdoor classrooms, a reading terrace, and more.
